Pembrokeshire has a wealth of archaeology from the earliest settlers who have left flint tools and standing stones, followed by Iron Age hill forts and field systems. Almost every cliff top promontory has a defensive wall and hut circles and Norman castles dot the landscape. St David’s Cathedral was famously built in a dip so that the raiding Vikings couldn’t spot it from the sea. The surrounding area still has signs of the early pilgrims and Holy springs or wells.
